Jen-Ai Hospital, a non-profit organization, has two branches in Taichung. Jen-Ai Hospital Taichung, located in the center of Taichung City, is a long established 146 bed secondary care hospital. The other branch, Jen-Ai Hospital Tali is a 746 bed tertiary care community hospital and the largest regional teaching hospital in Tali.

 

Jen-Ai Hospital Tali was the first hospital in Taiwan to launch an International Patient Center. Some of the services provided by the Center include helping patients set up medical appointments, free interpretations in various languages to easily facilitate communication between patients and physicians and hospital staff, translation of medical documents and diagnostic reports, and assistance with hospital financial procedures. The Center also has a Japanese coordinator to facilitate its Japanese medical service. 

 

Jen-Ai's Departments include Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, Chinese Medicine, Dentistry, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Clinic, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Plastic Surgery, Weight Loss and more.

 

In 2009, Jen-Ai Hospital Tali was awarded World Health Organization’s (WHO) “Health Promoting Hospitals” (HPH) Membership Certificate. In 2010, it was awarded “Most Baby-Friendly Hospital” (ranked #1) from the Department of Health in Taiwan.

Established in 1894, this over 100-year-old public hospital is conveniently located in downtown Taichung. Its newly built Medical Center with state-of-the-art medical equipment and contemporary decor opened in 1998.

 

The hospital has a Burn Center, Cosmetic Treatment Center, Lithotripsy Center, VIP Examination Center, Tumor Center, Women's Health Center, Autism Treatment Center and a long-term Nursing Care Center.

The Tumor Therapy Center has the latest radiation equipment including IMRT, 3D conformal radiation therapy and an inverse planning computer system.

The Tungs' Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital was founded by Dr. Jai-Chin Tung in order to service the local community. Wu Chi has approximately 3,000 beds, and Shalu has about 100 beds. The Wu Chi branch has an International Medical Service Center to provide medical care and health exams for its international clients. It offers many comprehensive examinations including: multi-slice lung cancer screening and tumor marking examination, colonoscopy examination, multi-slice coronary artery calcification examination, screening for tumors in head, neck, abdomen, pelvic cavity and spine, CVA and headache screening, breast cancer screening (breast MRI), and complete PET/CT scan.

It also has a Cancer Treatment Center, a Hemodialysis Center and a 24-hour Emergency Department.

Its specializations are: Cardiovascular procedures including cardiac catheterization and open heart surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, including joint replacement and spine surgery, Gastroenterology procedures including endoscopic ultrasound and radiofrequency ablation for tumors, Cosmetic Surgery, Dental Implants, Infertility Treatments, and high-tech Health Exams.


Tungs' heart surgery team has performed more than 700 open-heart surgeries including coronary artery bypass, grafting and heart valve replacement. In addition, it has performed over 5,000 successful cardiac catheterizations.

Its surgeons perform approximately 1,200 cases of head trauma, spinal lesion, brain tumor and cerebral hemorrhage surgeries annually. They use stereotactic radiosurgery for some specifc brain tumors, which can be done in one day and no operation is required.

Over 750 knee and hip operations are performed here yearly. It is also very experienced in performing minimally-invasive spinal surgeries for treatment of herniated discs, scoliosis, spinal stenosis and other orthopedic problems. It uses the most innovative techniques to minimize tissue damage and shorten the hospital stay.

For patients suffering from biliary pancreatic and gastrointestinal diseases, the hospital uses endoscopic ultrasonography to perform examination and diagnosis. This hospital has been remarkably successful in treating hepatocellular carcinoma. Since 2003, they have been using radiofrequency ablation (RFA) instead of the traditional surgical treatment for liver tumors. Tungs' is an accredited teaching hospital certified for kidney and liver transplantation.

Tungs' is one of only three hospitals in Taiwan to offer the Aurora 1.5T Dedicated Breast MRI System. This new integrated breast MRI
technology provides the higest quality imaging of the breasts, chest wall and axillae in a single scan.

It has an International Center for Medical Aesthetics which uses the most advanced instruments and offers cosmetic, facial, and body plastic surgeries and treatments. This Center works closely together with the Departments of Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.

China Medical University Hospital (CMUH), affiliated with China Medical University, provides high quality medical services, clinical education and research and is focused on promoting the modernization of Chinese medicine and the integration of Chinese and Western medicine. The hospital is a medical center specialized in critical care and cancer treatment.

CMUH's specialties include cardiology, jont-replacement surgery, organ transplantation, dialysis, stroke treatment, laser treatment, rehabilitation, and sports medicine.

Founded in 1913, the Kuang Tien General Hospital is a 1320-bed teaching hospital with branches in both Shalu and Dajin Townships servicing the central region of Taiwan by providing comprehensive medical services including acute and long term medical care, disease prevention and rehabilitative care.

2) Hau Sheng Hospital

Located 95 miles (150 kilometers) south of Taipei, in Yuanlin in Central Taiwan, Hau Sheng Hospital is a 30 bed maternity hospital with a "Hello Kitty" theme. 

All aspects of this hospital have the well known "Hello Kitty" motif including birth certificates, baby blankets, beds and staff uniforms, etc. Babies receive a pink or blue blanket, nurses are dressed in pink uniforms with "Hello Kitty" aprons and rooms are decorated with the famous cat's images.

The popular cartoon character is being used to try to ease the stress and anxiety of childbirth. The Hau Sheng Hospital is the world's first "Hello Kitty" medical establishment.
